How a Rug Is Cleaned at Bakers Rug Service
From pickup to delivery, a rug goes through these steps. The cleaning, repairs and drying are done at the shop at 8723 SW 132 ST in Miami.
- Pickup. We collect the rug from your home, condo or office at no charge across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
- Inspection. We check the dyes for stability and note stains and any structural damage before cleaning begins.
- Deep dusting. We remove embedded dry soil, grit, dust mites and allergens from the foundation of the rug.
- Hand wash. Each rug is washed by hand, one at a time, with gentle pH-neutral solutions that preserve natural wool oils and vibrant colors. Pet urine stains and odors are treated as part of the wash.
- Repairs on request. If you ask for repairs, we fix fringes, rebind edges and reweave holes by hand.
- Controlled drying. Rugs are air-dried in a climate-controlled space, which helps prevent mold and shrinkage.
- Delivery. We bring the clean rug back to you, also free of charge.
Why Hand Washing
Bakers Rug Service washes every rug by hand because hand washing is gentler on natural dyes, wool and silk than hot-water extraction (steam cleaning) or machine scrubbing. Gentle, pH-neutral hand washing preserves natural wool oils and vibrant colors.
In South Florida, drying matters as much as washing. Humid air slows drying, so a rug that is washed in place or left damp can develop a musty smell or mildew in its foundation. That is why rugs are dried in a climate-controlled space at the shop.
